Price caps by venue level
A recipe you can sell for at most 17 at a level 1 venue can go up to 34 at a level 5 venue.1
Every menu item has a highest price you can set, its price cap. The game works it out from two numbers: the recipe's own base cap, which is fixed in the game data, and the level of the venue that serves it. Nothing else changes the cap.
The formula
price cap = round down(recipe's base cap × level multiplier)1
| Venue level | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Multiplier | ×1 | ×1.2 | ×1.4 | ×1.6 | ×2 |
The result is rounded down to a whole coin. The same recipe therefore has five possible caps, one per level, and a level 5 venue can charge twice the level 1 cap.1
Examples
| Base cap | Level 1 | Level 2 | Level 3 | Level 4 | Level 5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 15 | 15 | 18 | 21 | 24 | 30 |
| 17 | 17 | 20 | 23 | 27 | 34 |
With a base cap of 17, level 2 gives 17 × 1.2 = 20.4, which rounds down to 20.1
A higher cap is not a higher score
The cap only limits what you can enter. Customers judge the price separately: above a customer group's daily budget, the price part of that group's satisfaction drops to 0, while the rest of the score (value, rarity, local favorites) still counts. See Dish satisfaction and the price cliff.2
Price also lowers a dish's value score, which compares its calories with what you charge.2,3
Reaching a higher level
A venue moves up a level once it has served enough meals, and for the top two levels its recent reviews also need a high enough average. The numbers are on How review stars are calculated.4,5,6
